Five Family Members Killed in Tragic Helicopter Crash Over Hudson River.

Six people, including three young children, tragically lost their lives when a helicopter carrying a family of tourists crashed into the Hudson River in New York, according to authorities.

The victims included a family of five from Spain and the pilot, New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed on Thursday. All six were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.

“Our hearts go out to the families,” Mayor Adams said in a statement.

While official identities have not yet been released, the victims have been widely reported as Agustín Escobar and his wife Mercè Camprubí Montal—both executives at Siemens—along with their children, aged 4, 5, and 11.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that the investigation into the crash of the Bell 206—a two-bladed helicopter—will be led by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The Bell 206 is a model frequently used by sightseeing tour operators, television news crews, and law enforcement agencies.

Reacting to the tragedy, former U.S. President Donald Trump called the incident "terrible" and noted that more information would be shared as the investigation progresses.

“God bless the families and friends of the victims,” he posted on his Truth Social platform.
